A cool new site

In my Humanities class, we are learning about the US government. Recently, my teacher introduced us to a website called iCivics, where people can play online games about the government. Today, I played Win The White House, a game where you are a presidential candidate.
I would recommend this website for kids who think learning is boring. For me, it doesn't even feel like learning, just playing online games and having fun.

I've moved into Sci-Fi now.

Platform 2

Chapter One

The bitter rain poured down upon the city, carving trails through the grime. A few of the braver people chanced a walk along the streets as they went to and fro, keeping hoods drawn close to their scowling faces. Above the clouds, the sun shone merrily as if nothing was wrong. But something was wrong. Terribly wrong.
Here begins the Strange Account of Platform 2, as told to me by young Soren Fredericson, who underwent a traumatic experience at the hands of Doctor... But I digress. Let us hear his tale, and reflect on what it may mean for us.
Soren never saw them coming. He was walking home from school, scuffing his shoes on the curb, and humming. The long grey car turned the corner, moving as quietly as a snake through long grass. A spindly arm clad in a lab coat opened the car door with a black-gloved hand that flashed out like a striking cobra and snatched him by the collar, yanking him into the red velvet interior of the car. A handkerchief was pressed to his face and he knew no more.
His head throbbing, Soren regained his senses. He tried to stand up, but immediately collapsed. A blurry figure approached. “Hello, subject 28,” it said in a fake-cheerful voice. Soren’s vision swam blearily into focus and he gasped. A hideous, twelve foot tall Thing with scars, a hook for a hand, and deep pits for eyes was standing nearby. But he (or she?) had not spoken. A painfully thin man with a lab coat was pacing back and forth, pressing buttons and checking dials. “My name,” he said, with a voice like a serpent’s hiss, “is Doctor Sesquipedalian.” Soren managed a terrified squeak as he glanced at the Thing. The Doctor looked at him, amused. “Oh, don’t worry. Tazma probably won’t eat you.” He leered evilly, shaking his finger at the Thing, Tazma. “Although, after what he did to the first three subjects, I wouldn’t be surprised.” The behemoth and it's master both laughed, the low chuckling forming an awful combination with the Doctor’s cacophonous evil laughter.

Chapter 10

The group had been traveling for days across the dry, barren Waste. Paul's feet felt like leaden weights as the dust swirled like a swarm of gnats around his head. He gave a rattling cough. "Water," he gasped, "Please. It was hours ago when we stopped for a drink." Gatry halted. Removing a canteen from his back, he dumped all of the precious liquid into the boy's mouth. Zira stared. "What did you do that for?!" she shrieked. "That's all the water we have!" Gana came spiraling down. "Yes, but there's an oasis a mile away." Zira leaped from Paul's shoulder. She ran off to the next hill, then stopped. "Which way?" she shouted. Gana pointed, and she raced off.

Sal Khan's mistake

Today I was doing my homework and watched this video to make sure I knew what to do. Then I saw an error!

The coordinates (-6, 6) were on the wrong side in his graph (at the 5 minute mark), so it actually said (6, -6)!

An app review

This is my first review, so I'll make it terse and pithy (some of my favorite words). My favorite app is called My Dinos Go! and it has many benefits, as well as being fun + free. You start out with a character that must collect creatures (known as Dynamals) by doing quests, which requires energy. Energy is very annoying, as it takes a long time to reload. If possible, try to conserve energy (yes, I am concerned about the environment, why do you ask?) and upgrade your Dynamals. If you keep your cool and keep doing quests, you may become a pro like me! On the game, my name is Wevan. Join my tribe.

The Final chapter?......

Gana began a low coughing growl, and Paul sighed with releif. She was laughing. "I have always been a rather slow eater, actually. If you want to see real eating, why don't you come with me and my pack?" Gatry gasped. "You actually have a tribe, Gana? Congratulations! We would be honored to cross the Waste with you. You see, for a while now I have opposed Lord Sinister..." Gatry explained why they were on the run, and when he got to describing the cell guards, Gana licked her lips. "Ahh, goblins. Haven't eaten one of those in ages. Say the word, and we're with you." Gatry smiled and nodded, and they set off.

Chapter 8

The giant Wurm stared hungrily at the heroes, and finally pulled the rest of itself out of the ground. Its razor sharp fangs glinted in the noon sunlight, and it howled, sounding like a pack of wolves. Gatreng thought, trying to remember all he knew about the beasts. Suddenly he grinned. Cupping his hands around his mouth, he let out a piercing call. A shadow blanketed the whole party as a huge yellow dragon descended. The Wurm squealed in terror as it tried to crawl back down its tunnel- too slowly to escape its
only natural predator. The dragon grabbed it firmly by the neck, and rose into the sky. Seconds later, the dragon landed again, looking plump. It inclined its massive head to Gatry, saying "Hello again, Gatreng. Long time no see." Paul and Zira gaped. They had not known that dragons were able to talk. "It's okay, guys." Gatry called. "This is Eingana. She prefers to be called Gana, though." Paul slowly unfroze. "W-where did she come from? How do you know her?" Gatry and Gana laughed. "When I was a hatchling," she began, "I was always picked on for being the smallest." Zira smiled. "You're kidding." Gana pretended to be shocked. "Honestly! I was barely 10 feet long. My siblings kicked me out of the nest, and I was wandering the Waste when Gatry found me. He rescued me from bandits who were going to make some dragon stew." She shuddered."I traveled with him for a month, and that's where I learned how to speak." Paul raised his hand. "Um, I have a question." he said. "How did you eat the Wurm so fast?" Gana dropped to all fours, and smoke billowed out of her mouth as she began to growl.
